Biggest buck yet...10.22.05
I grew up in Rockmart, Georgia, hunting with my Daddy in Paulding County in the Paulding County Sportsman's Club. He was and still is an avid outdoorsman. He supported and encouraged our involvement with the outdoors and hunting as far back as I can remember.  My brother and I both enjoyed going hunting with him and looked forward to those weekends when we could go to the woods.

In 1988 we moved to LaGrange and began hunting in Troup County. My greatest hunting memory as a child was in 1992 when I took my first deer with my bow at a father-son hunt on the Blanton Creek Wildlife Management Area in Harris County. It was a very special experience. My greatest hunting memory as an adult was harvesting the buck in the picture above at the age of 26.

Throughout my 20s I didn't hunt a great deal, but recently I have had a renewed interest, probably due to more free time, my children being old enough to go along and enjoy it, and a little more money to spend. I am really looking forward to creating new hunting memories with my family in the coming years. This year we'll be hunting the West Point WMA, but next year we hope to get into a lease somewhere within driving distance of Troup County. We've not yet been on a hunt for the monsters in Texas or somewhere in the mid-west, but God willing one day we will. In the meantime we'll enjoy the hunting in Georgia.

I made this blog primarily to record memories created with family and friends. I'm a long way from a hunting expert, but I do enjoy it and I figure there are several people that can relate to that. I'm sure that there are plenty of folks out there that can relate to the challenges of an average hunter with a busy schedule who doesn't have access to a huge lease or a farm.

Good luck in the woods...
